Joe van Zwaren
For the last five years, Joe van Zwaren has served as Vice President for Business Development at Leviathan Energy Ltd, a start-up in renewable energy. From 1984 to 2008, he was Director of Exact Sciences at the Ministry of Science and Technology, where he was a constant entrepreneur. He was responsible for introducing both Internet in 1984 (for which he was awarded the 1987 Best Government Employee in Israel) and Internet-2 in 1996 to Israel by brokering the agreement with the US National Science Foundation.
From 1996 to 2002 he initiated and was responsible for national research programs in Optronics, Lasers, Information Technologies and Microelectronics. He and his wife live in Jerusalem. They have 5 grown children, a parrot and a dog.
Uzi Mor Ph.D.
Uzi Mor, Ph.D., a graduate from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel, in Biochemistry, plant physiology and agriculture, is the founder and outgoing CEO (served for 5 years) at GHTC (Gat High Tech Center), a technological incubator in Kiryat Gat, Israel. He was also the founder and principal owner of Lintronics Ltd for 13 years, active in the area of sophisticated high tech instrumentation. The company’s product was sold to 19 countries. As a serial entrepreneur, Dr. Mor brings to JBNF 25 years of R&D, academic experience, and professionalism in business development for startup companies, as well as a being a business mentor for a series of small businesses. He holds 3 patents in Israel and one in the USA.
Dr. Mor resides in Rehovot. His three grown children are also a second generation of entrepreneurs.
Avigail is a UCLA graduate, a certified technical writer and SEO professional. With more than 15 years of experience in the Technical/Marketing Communications field, she provides writing, web design and promotional services, along with a small professional team, as well as training in various computer applications on a freelance basis. Mrs. Frij also currently serves (part time) as Senior Technical Writer for Atlantium Technologies, which provides UV water purification to various industries and municipalities. Ms. Frij’s clients include major high-tech firms, small businesses and NGOs.
In Israel since 7/7/77, Ms. Frij once owned and managed a retail business for seven years. She lives in Maale Adumim with her Sabra husband and four children.
Michael Horesh gained an honours degree in economics from London University and has been living in Israel since 1982. He served as a junior officer in the IDF and has since held managerial roles in companies in the high tech, manufacturing and public sectors. For the past five years, Michael has been acting as a business mentor for a series of SMEs in the Jerusalem area, whether they are at concept stage or already servicing the public.
Mr. Horesh lives in Givat Zeev with his wife and three children, and still proudly drinks his tea with milk..
Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, innovation has always been a major part of Marna Becker’s life. After creating her own curriculum, she earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies (concentration: Immigration Advocacy with minors in Spanish and Jewish Studies) at the University of Delaware. Upon graduation, she served as Northern Fieldworker and as lead advisor to all international students for the Union of Jewish Students of the United Kingdom and Ireland (UJS). Mrs. Becker soon moved from the UK to Montreal where she completed an M.A. in Culture and Values in Education at McGill University.
Since her Aliyah in December 2007, Mrs. Becker first served on the marketing team at Nirshamim.com, a subsidiary of Smile Media Group and as a Client Liaison for FXCM at Citybook. She headed up the marketing and client relations efforts at Israel Maven Tours until May of 2012, when she joined the team at Upstart Ideas, a Jerusalem-based marketing and recruitment firm. Marna is in the process of starting her own business(!) Marna and her husband currently reside in the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood of Jerusalem.
Binyamin Halevy Rosenstein Ph.D.
Binyamin Halevy Rosenstein, Ph.D. from Bar Ilan University in Education, was born in 1944. He and his wife have 10 children. His earlier education is from the Charadi yeshiva world and had studied at the Ponovitch Yeshiva in Bnei Brak. He served as an Inspector for the Ministry of Education for many years, heading special projects for the integration of Olim from Ethiopia and FSU. Mr. Rosenstein had an important role in the rescue of Ethiopian Jews. Mr. Rosenstein was a representative of Russian Immigrant Rescue Fund (RIRF), of Great Britain, and the USA. He developed cooperative endeavors between the Ministry of Education and Community Centers throughout Israel. While studying at Bar Ilan, he served as Rosh Yeshiva for a Bnei Akiva yeshiva in Raanana. Benjamin is currently immersed in R&D for para-medical, and other products at the Dead Sea.
